Welcome to Learn Japanese London’s Japanese Beginner Course! In this course, you will learn the fundamentals of the Japanese language and culture. Our aim is to enable you to communicate in Japanese at a basic level and provide you with the essential tools to continue your learning journey.

Throughout the course, you’ll develop essential skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking Japanese. I have been searching for a place to learn Japanese for a while. During a Google search, I discovered Learn Japanese London. I reached out to them via email, and within a couple of days, they responded and were incredibly helpful. Amelia made me feel very welcome and assisted in finding a tutor who was available at my requested time and within my budget. I was then introduced to my tutor, Momoe, who is very patient and supportive. Her lessons are clear and easy to understand, and my knowledge of Japanese expands with each session. Having lived in Japan a long time ago I wanted some help with conversational Japanese before I took a trip back. Yekta helped me through one-to-one classes to relearn hiragana and katakana, as well as participating in verbal and written exercises, which focussed on different aspects of grammar each time. Her lessons were always well-thought through and tailor-made for me and I enjoyed them enormously. She gave me the confidence to start speaking basic Japanese again - and the trip was a huge success, not least because I was able to communicate when I got there! Highly recommend this language school.

I've always felt that learning another language was next to impossible after my experience at secondary school, but I can happily say I have now changed my mind! For the last year, I have had a private teacher from Learn Japanese and have made significant progress. Each lesson is tailored to me and my current level, really fun, and my teacher very graciously puts up with my endless number of questions. I hope one day to visit or even live in Japan, and if you are thinking of learning Japanese I can't think of a better school to do it with. If you take just one class, I am sure you will get hooked just like me.

Yekta Eren has been teaching my 6th Form son Beginners Japanese and working towards a spoken language qualification. He has been having a great learning experience with Yekta. She is very student led. He really enjoys her lessons, she works at his pace and is always understanding when school commitments interfere with their programme of learning. Yekta is very flexible and a great communicator. She is always open to rescheduling a lesson if needed and she is happy to teach sessions during half-terms and holidays to keep up momentum towards a learning goal. I recommend Yekta highly - she is great.

LEARNING JAPANESE FOR BEGINNERS

In this six-week course, you will learn basic Japanese, starting with simple greetings and self-introductions. You will also be introduced to the Hiragana chart, numbers, prices, time expressions, days of the week, months, countries, nationalities, and languages. You will also learn how to construct positive/negative noun sentences and question forms, as well as tips for cultural awareness.

Japanese COURSES for Beginners

Throughout the course, you will learn how to speak Japanese through a variety of activities, such as role plays, games, and other classroom activities. The course is customized to meet the needs of each student, and the learning process is supported with audiovisual teaching methods.

Japanese Beginner 1 – 6 weeks course

In the first module, you will learn how to greet people, introduce yourself, and learn the Hiragana chart. You will also learn how to express numbers, prices, time expressions, days of the week, months, and talk about countries, nationalities, and languages. Additionally, you will learn how to construct positive/negative noun sentences and question forms and receive tips for cultural awareness.

Japanese Beginner 2 – 6 weeks course

In the second module, you will learn how to read and write Katakana and learn vocabulary related to jobs, travel, and transport. You will also learn how to construct verb sentences in the present, future, and past tenses and describe daily routines. Finally, you will learn how to make invitations and be introduced to Kanji (20 kanji).

Contents are indicative and will be customised according to student needs . Learning process is supported with audiovisual teaching methods. You will be practising every new information with your classmates through role plays, games and other classroom activities,

Japanese Improver 1 – 6 weeks course

This module is for elementary-level students who completed Beginner 1 and 2 courses. You will be able to accept & reject an invitation, describe your preferences using adjectives, and ask about the presence of a person or thing (using imasu and arimasu verbs). You will also learn comparisons and superlatives.

Japanese Improver 2 – 6 weeks course

In this module, you will learn how to express desires, and wishes (-tai form), order food and drink in a restaurant. You will enjoy practicing through a number of reading and speaking exercises as well as developing cultural awareness. Additionally, you will learn 20 Kanjis.

BOOKS

The course book for this course is “Minna no Nihongo (Shokyu 1).” Additionally, you will use “Minna no Nihongo 1 Translation & Grammatical Notes” and “Basic Kanji Book 500 Vol.1.”

Achievement

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to talk and ask about daily routines, invite their friends, go shopping, and ask for directions on public transport. You will also learn to read and write Hiragana, Katakana, and Basic Kanji. Students will receive a certificate of completion and will be advised for further learning opportunities.
